Canadian shipowner Algoma Central Corporation has announced the execution of an alternative order for an additional Seawaw-Max self-unloading bulk carrier in Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.

The new vessel will be Algoma's first Equinox 2.0 bulk carrier, a design that builds on the original Equinox standard to achieve higher fuel efficiency, increased speed and increased capacity at lower engine power.

The new ship, to be built at YAMIC, is scheduled to start construction in late 2022 and join the fleet at the start of the 2024 sailing season.

"Captain Henry Jackman" is a 31200 DWT great lake bulk carrier with a total length of 225.535 m, 225.30 m, 23.77 m, 13.40 m between columns, design draft of 8.15 m and structure draft of 8.65 m. It has been classified into LR.

The vessel is the fifth vessel built by Algoma in Yangzijiang and the first of its new design to be built in YAMIC.
