On December 10, the 4th Working Conference of the National Tripartite Coordination Mechanism for Maritime Labor Relations was held in Beijing. The meeting reviewed and approved the newly revised "Chinese Seafarers Collective Agreement."

According to the agreement, the minimum base salary standard for ocean-going seafarers will be increased by 4% from January 1, 2020. The standard of meals will be increased by 1 USD per person per day from January 1, 2021; Increased compensation for ocean seafarers’ injury.

The meeting deliberated and adopted the work report, and notified the exemption of seafarers' cabin standard under the Maritime Labour Convention 2006. Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal, Shantou International Seafarers' Club, Yantai International Seafarers' Club, and Zhangjiagang Port Group, were awarded the plaque of "seafarers' home".
 
Over the past two years, the tripartite coordination mechanism has fully played its role, Maritime Labour Convention has become more effective, the career development environment for seafarers has improved, and seafarers' rights and interests have been better protected. At the same time, building a harmonious maritime labor relationship in the new era faces new challenges.
