On the afternoon of December 9, 2019, China Merchants Group announced that Hu Jianhua was appointed as the General Manager of China Merchants Group. Relevant appointments shall be handled in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.

Hu Jianhua, graduated from Dalian University of Technology with a bachelor's degree in port engineering, and subsequently obtained a master's degree from the University of Birmingham, England, and a doctorate in business administration from Australian National University of South Australia. On April 29, 2007, he joined China Merchants International. Former General Manager of Hong Kong Zhenhua Engineering, Managing Director of China Harbor Engineering Company, Chairman of Colombo International Container Terminal, Chairman of China Merchants Logistics Group, Chairman of China Nanshan Development Group, Vice Chairman of Djibouti Port Co., Ltd., Outside director of CIC Overseas Ltd., Deputy chairman and managing director of China Merchants Port Board, and deputy general manager of China Merchants Group.

China Merchants Group (CMG) is a leading central state-owned enterprise based in Hong Kong, under direct supervision of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. In 2018, the company had the total assets of 8 trillion RMB, and its business performance hit record high in 2018, with 649.9 billion RMB revenue, 145.1 billion RMB total profit and 107 billion RMB net profit , 11.3% , 14.1% and 9.7% up year-on-year respectively, ranking No.1 among all the central SOEs. It has been recognized as one of the eight Level-A SOEs for fifteen consecutive years and the Excellent Performance Enterprise for five term of office. In 2018, China Merchants Group and its subsidiary China Merchants Bank are listed in the Fortune Global 500.
