China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) will kick off the follow-up project of the first phase of Tianjin-Inner Mongolia natural gas pipeline from late September, according to the state-backed China News Service

The 1,279-kilometer (km) pipeline is designed to connect the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Tianjin, coal-to-gas plants in Inner Mongolia and the densely-populated capital city of Beijing and its surrounding regions, with annual transmission capacity of 20 billion cubic meters

Construction on the first phase of the project, linking Tianjin LNG terminal to pipelines in Hebei province in a total length of 413.5 km, started in November and has completed 31.5 km so far

The rest of the first phase, totalling 382 km, is expected to be completed by end-November 2020 and enable 14 million cubic meters of gas from imported cargos in Bohai regions to be moved to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, China News Service said.
