Mr Wang Hong, Executive Vice President of China Merchants Group (CMG), met with Mr Luciano Siani Pires, Chief Financial Officer of Vale S.A., and Mr Marcello Spinelli, Executive Director of Ferrous Minerals, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Also in attendance were Mr Vagner Loyola, Supply Chain Director of Vale S.A., Mr Renata Costa Zingre, Shipping Director of Vale S.A., Mr Xie Chunlin, Chairman of CMES, Mr Zhang Yi, President of CM Port Holdings, and Mr Ding Lei, Vice President of CMES and General Manager of Hong Kong Ming Wah.
Mr Wang thanked Vale S.A. for their invitation and made a brief presentation of the overall state of CMG. He expressed that CMG works closely with Vale S.A. in a wide range of operations, including shipping, ports and ore mixing. With CMG establishing itself at Liaoning Port and Zhanjiang Port, the two companies are in a position to continue to build upon their current cooperation, supplying high-quality “one-stop” iron ore logistics services for Vale S.A. through CMG’s advantages in integrated logistics, helping Vale S.A. optimize their iron ore supply chain for mutual benefit.
Mr Marcello Spinelli welcomed the CMG delegation and discussed the operations of Vale S.A. He expressed his views on China’s 400,000-ton unloading arrangements, mixed-ore operations and transshipment operations, as well as responding to increasingly stringent environmental requirements.
Mr Xie reviewed CMES and Vale S.A.’s cooperation on the 400,000-ton and 32,500-ton VLOCs, expressing the hope that the two companies will continue to work closely in matters such as the installation of scrubbers and testing 2nd-gen VLOC speed and fuel consumption.
The two sides agreed to build upon current cooperation and expand the scope and depth of their strategic partnership, enhancing their diverse cooperation in shipping, ports and integrated logistics.
