1.Container throughput at China’s Shanghai port has risen by 5.1% in the first half of this year compared to the year-ago period, according to Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG).
 
2.China Petroleum and Chemical Corp, the world's largest refiner by volume, has signed a deal with China National Offshore Oil Corp, China's largest producer of offshore oil and gas, to study and explore several mostly offshore areas in China.
 
3.China will build a green and efficient shipping system to achieve high quality development of the maritime sector, a senior official said on Thursday.
 
4.China's second - and the first domestically built - research icebreaker, Xuelong 2, or Snow Dragon 2, entered service in Shanghai on Thursday.The ship was delivered to its user - the Polar Research Institute of China under the Ministry of Natural Resources - at a commissioning ceremony at Jiangnan Shipyard Group, which built the vessel.
 
5.China's Cosco Shipping Ports plans to expand its CSP Abu Dhabi Port Container Terminal in Khalifa to raise the annual handling capacity to 3.6 million TEU and lengthen its quay to 1,800 metres. The semi-automated container terminal began operations this April with an initial handling capacity of 1.5 million TEU and 1,200 metres of quay.
 
6.China imported 245 million tonnes of crude oil in January-June period this year, showed data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) on July 12.The crude oil imports came in at 39.88 million tonnes in June, showed the GAC data. 
 
7.China’s crude oil imports on a daily basis in June rose 15.2% from a year earlier, customs data showed on Friday, as the start up of new large-scale refiners spurred demand for feedstocks.
