China opens its international maritime transport market to world xinde marine news 2019-07-12 14:33

China will open its market of international maritime transport to foreign enterprises, said an official of the Ministry of Transport at a press briefing in Ningbo City, east China's Zhejiang Province, on Wednesday.

The State Council recently released revised policies and regulations of the opening-up of international maritime transport, allowing foreign companies to establish sole-proprietorship enterprises in China to undertake agency, management and transport services of international vessels. Meanwhile, the government will treat foreign and domestic enterprises equally and no longer ask foreign enterprises exclusively for examination and approval to invest in international maritime transport industry and its auxiliary industries.

"We have announced to cancel the procedure of review and approval for businesses of transport of international container ships and general cargo ships, as well as non-vessel-operating common carrier service and transport of container ships and general cargo ships between the inland and Hong Kong and Macao, and such businesses will go through filing procedures undertaken by provincial-level transport authorities. Procedures of review and approval for international maritime transport industry will be cut substantially. Our industrial management will focus on supervision," said Yi Jiyong, deputy director of the Water Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Transport.
