1.Shanghai Gentco Logistics has poached chemical chartering expert Si Liang, until now general manager of Greathorse Chemical.The move means women, including general manager Song Wei, hold two of the three highest management positions at China's largest chemical tanker owner.
 
2.Chinese state-run shipping firm Shandong Shipping has announced plans to issue 90.9m new shares to a strategic investor, raising round RMB100m ($14.5m).The new shares will represent around 2.94% of the company’s total shares.
 
3.Singapore’s KS Drilling, part of KS Energy, and China’s ZPMC have mutually agreed to terminate the newbuild contract for jackup rig KS Java Star 3 with immediate effect.
 
4.Seven foreign nations maintain a military presence in the small nation of Djibouti, which is located adjacent to the strategic Strait of Bab el-Mandeb. Five have permanent military bases, including France, Japan, Italy, the United States and - most recently - China.
 
5.Taicang port in Jiangsu province saw a steady increase in its cargo throughput in the first five months of 2019, according to the port's management committee.From Jan-May, the port handled 2.13 million containers, 93.57 million tons of cargo, and 30.37 million tons of foreign trade goods with respective year-on-year increases of 8.5 percent, 2.8 percent and 2.7 percent.

7.Customs officials for the Fuzhou port in China’s southeastern Fujian region said only coal end-users such as local steel mills or power plants will be able to obtain customs clearance for imported coal, according to market sources Thursday.
 
8.More Russian commodities are expected to come into the Chinese market, a Russian trade representative said.With the joint efforts of related departments, manufacturers and exporters in Russia, more farm produce and food from Russia will be seen at the Chinese market, said Sergey Inyushin, Russia’s trade representative in China.
