Sinopec, one of China's key oil and gas developers, started construction of the Qingdao-Nanjing gas transmission pipeline on June 14, a strategic deployment to further expand its gas supplying capacity and covering areas, state media Xinhua News Agency reported.
With a length of 531km, the pipeline is designed to deliver 7.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.
As one major state-approved project for gas infrastructure connectivity in 2019, the pipeline is slated to commence operation by end-October 2020.
A great deal of gas will be transmitted from gas-rich Sichuan province in southwestern China to Nanjing city, Jiangsu province in the east, and then to Qingdao city of Shandong province north of Jiangsu.
From January through May, Sinopec traded 19.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, well securing supplies for residents and industrial users.
