1.Chinese southern port operator Zhuhai Port Group is to launch the third phase of a terminal project and build two container berths at Gaolan port to meet its increasing cargo volume.
 
2.China’s iron ore futures continued to rise on Monday after recording their best weekly performance in six weeks, buoyed by expectations of a robust near-term demand at steel mills amid strong profitability.
 
3.Japanese owner Santoku Senpaku has gone to DACKS, the Dalian joint venture shipyard run by Cosco and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, for a pair of ultramaxes. No price has been revealed for the bulkers, which are due to deliver around the end of next year.
 
4.Chinese shipyards saw newbuilding orders plunged in the first four months of this year on the back of an overall weak international shipping market and declining new orders globally, according to the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (Cansi).
 
5.China’s container transport for export purposes edged up for the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange.The average China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) stood at 804.46, up 1.6 percent from a week earlier, the exchange said.
 
6.The state-owned Zhejiang Energy is reportedly laying down the groundwork to construct a liquefied natural gas import facility in east China’s Liuheng island.Citing a company source, Platts said a cooperation framework deal has been signed between Zhejiang Energy and Shenzhen Energy and Liuheng management committee to develop the LNG import terminal.
 
7.Loaded with food, clothing and furniture, shipping company MSC's "Seaspan New York" left Xiamen port in East China's Fujian province in early April.It is the first route that the world's second-largest shipping company has opened to link Xiamen with Southeast Asia to meet growing demand for international trade in the region.
 
8.Another two 2,200-unit car carrier ships will join the Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers fleet by the end of this year, according to Yan Maifeng, the captain of Chang Rong Kou.
