1.Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC), the flagship yard of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), has started a research and development program for the construction of large-scale LNG carriers.
 
2.Chinese state-run shipping conglomerate Cosco is going to take control of Hainan Harbor and Shipping Holding as part of the government’s plan to restructure shipping and port assets in Hainan province.
 
3.Hong Kong-based dry bulk shipping company Pacific Basin Shipping has signed a service agreement with engine maker MAN Energy Solutions covering a fleet of 111 bulkers.
 
4.Singapore-based marine and offshore solutions provider AVIC International Maritime Holdings Limited (AVIC Maritime) has decided to dispose of its entire stake in AVIC Zhenjiang Shipyard Marine (AZM). 
 
5.Having rejected a $1bn-plus bailout proposal for Uljanik Group, the Croatian state is so keen to get China Shipbuilding Industry Corp (CSIC) to play white knight that it has started to trumpet its interest in the BRI.On the Chinese side, the state-owned conglomerate has agreed to send a delegation to Croatia to develop ways of cooperation in vessel design and construction.
 
6.Financially troubled ship design and shipbuilding company Shanghai Bestway Marine & Energy Technology has announced that China Great Wall Asset Management has filed a lawsuit against the company over a debt dispute.
 
7.Brazilian exports of soybeans to China, by far their largest market, fell 13 percent in the first four months of 2019 versus a year ago, according to a report from Cargonave shipping agency.
 
8.U.S.crude is reaching new destinations around the world after Chinese buying slowed amid concern that the growing trade dispute between the countries could result in a tax on American oil.
