1.Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas International Ltd. (OOIL) said that it will sell Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT) to a consortium led by Australia’s Macquarie Group for $1.78 billion.
 
2.China's shipbuilding capacity utilization retreated in the first quarter of 2019 due to a sluggish global market, data from China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI) showed.
 
3.Canadian shipping company Algoma Central Corporation has exercised an option to build a new Equinox Class bulker in China.The seawaymax gearless vessel was ordered from Yangzijiang Shipyard and is scheduled to arrive in Canada for the 2021 navigation season.
 
4.The Xiamen-Kaohsiung ferry route was temporarily reopened on April 29 after a five-year suspension, as 573 passengers boarded the COSCO Star ship headed for the Taiwan city of Kaohsiung on April 29.
 
5.Dajin Heavy Industry, the subsidiary yard of financially troubled Shanghai Bestway Marine & Energy Technology, has partnered up with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for a newbuilding contract for the construction of two 8,000 dwt bulkers with Russian food and ingredients supplier Aston.
 
6.China’s overall freight transport saw steady growth in the first quarter (Q1), official data showed.Freight volume grew 6.1 per cent year on year to 10.85 billion tonnes in the first three months, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) said in a statement.

8.China's COSCO Shipping Pisces, one the world's largest container ships with a capacity of 20,000 TEUs, docked at Abu Dhabi Terminal at Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, signifying that the service capacity of the Abu Dhabi Terminal has once again been upgraded to a higher level.
