1.Terminal operator Cosco Shipping Ports (CSP) plans to develop a 254,000-square-metre logistics park in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou that has a regional population of 64 million and boasts one of the world's busiest box ports with 2018 throughput hitting 21.92 million TEU.

 

2.Chinese Premier Li Keqiang arrived in Brussels, the capital of Belgium for the 21st China-European Union (EU) leaders’ meeting. On the afternoon of April 8, local time, Premier Li attended the unveiling ceremony of the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU) in Brussels, extending his wish that the chamber will build up a favorable image of China.

Developed by DNV GL and consultancy firm Menon Economics, the fourth edition of the LMC report was unveiled earlier this morning during Singapore Maritime Week 2019. Singapore has been ranked first in the past three editions of the LMC report, since 2012.

7.Alfa Laval PureBallast 3, the third generation of Alfa Laval’s ballast water treatment technology, has received updated type approval from the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). The new certificate makes it possible for vessels to deballast in United States waters with a holding time of just 2.5 hours.

 

8.The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) launched its Maritime Innovation Lab (MIL) today. The MIL is part of the broader MPA Living Lab efforts and consists of both physical and digital aspects to serve as a co-creation platform for innovation. The purpose-built facility will create an environment that enables experimentation and the test-bedding of innovative port services and intelligent ship operations.
