1.Italian Port of Trieste and China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) have signed an agreement that will enable Italian products of small and medium companies to access Chinese markets as well as facilitate infrastructure development in central Europe.
 
2.Taiwan-based Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation posted a full-year net loss for 2018, as the shipping company’s revenues rose.The company’s net loss after tax stood at TWD 6.59 billion (USD 213.7 million) in 2018, compared to a net profit after tax of TWD 0.32 billion seen a year earlier.
 
3.China delays MacGregor’s TTS acquisition.MacGregor, part of Cargotec, expects to close its acquisition of the marine and offshore businesses of TTS Group ASA in Q2 2019, after previously estimating the deal would complete in Q1.
 
4.CMA CGM chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saadé has signed two strategic partnerships with Lei Fanpei, chairman of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), including an order of 10 containership newbuilds, as well as an agreement to jointly develop more efficient and environmentally-friendly vessels.
 
5.The city of Maoming, Guangdong province officially began using the Bohe New Port Area on March 22, after the city's Party chief Xu Zhihui gave the order to open the port at 9:30 am.
 
6.China's crude oil futures settled lower on Monday.The most active contract for May 2019 delivery was lost 2.3 percent to 450.2 yuan per barrel, data from the Shanghai International Energy Exchange (INE) showed. 
 
7.COSCO Group's Shanghai Ship and Shipping Research Institute (SSSRI) has completed designs for a record-breaking 25,000-TEU ship, reports Singapore's Splash 24/7.SSSRI, a unit of Cosco Shipping, has got the design approved by CSSC No 708 Institute, part of the nation's largest shipbuilding group.
 
8.China’s two major state-run shipbuilding majors – CSSC and CSIC – are accelerating preparation for a potential merger, and a detailed merger plan is expected to be finalised this year.
