Tangshan liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, located in Caofeidian, Tangshan city of Hebei province, has delivered a total 4.03 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas to Beijing during the winter heating season, Beijing Daily reported.

The gas, shipped via pipelines and tank lorries, amounted to 40% of Beijing's total gas usage in this winter.

Tangshan LNG terminal received a total 36 ships of LNG during this winter from Qatar, Australia and Malaysia among other origins, with a quantity of 3.96 million tonnes.

The terminal, built and managed by China National Petroleum Corporation, is aimed at supplying natural gas to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and helping ease gas shortage for Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan and Qinhuangdao during peak demand season.

It created a record of keeping daily gas delivery as high as 40 million cubic meters in 21 consecutive days during the winter heating season, and saw daily delivery of more than 30 million cubic meters for 80 straight days.

Tangshan LNG terminal also managed to receive 11 vessels of imported LNG for each of the two months.
