1.China's Port of Xiamen, opposite Taiwan, is upgrading its facilities at Haicang and will expand the shipping channel to accommodate vessels of up to 200,000 dwt.
 
2.Marittima Emiliana placed an order for the 4,500 dwt  tanker duo at Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding, a shipyard specialising in small chemical construction, on March 15, according to data provided by Asiasis.
 
3.Two DSIC units to be liquidated.Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Marine Services, the ship repair unit of DSIC, has entered liquidation as it was unable to repay debt totalling RMB15.49m while Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Steel Company, the ship recycling unit of DSIC, also went into insolvency due to its inability to repay RMB155m worth of loans.

8.Chinese iron ore prices rose for a sixth straight day on March 19 as Brazil's Vale faced further restrictions at its iron ore operations, adding to concerns about tight supply of the steelmaking raw material.
