1.The second session of China’s 13th National People's Congress was opened in Beijing on 5 March and Premier Li Keqiang delivered the government work report and stated national plans for several industries in the meeting,including development plans for transportation sector.
 
2.Chinese state-run shipping group Shandong Shipping has announced a plan to establish a new asset management company with Taiwanese owner Eddie Steamship.The new company Shandong Shipping Asset Management Corporation will be registered in Hong Kong with a register capital of $5m.
 
3.China’s shipping company COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers has exercised options to build four 62,000-ton multipurpose pulp carriers.The company said it signed an agreement with COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) shipyard for the construction of vessel quartet on March 1, 2019.
 
4.Two new 14,000 TEU containerships chartered by Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming have been splashed in Japan.The launching ceremony took place at Imabari shipyard on March 6, 2019.
 
5.Chinese shipbuilding group China Ocean Industry has announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its entire 20% interest in Zhejiang Ocean, a financial leasing company, to China Medical Services for a price of RMB170m ($25.3m).
 
6.LNG exporter Cheniere Energy is in talks with state-run Sinopec for a new long-term LNG supply agreement and the parties are waiting for further instructions from the government authorities, a Beijing-based Cheniere executive, who declined to be named, said.
 
7.China's thriving Ningbo-Zhoushan port is expanding its Chuanshan port area to raise its container handling capacity by 600,000 TEU by building new berths.
 
8.In a recent development, Sinopec Corp's subsidiary refinery has announced that they have delivered their first shipment of low sulfur bunker fuel that meets IMO standards in the southern island province of Hainan, reports Reuters.
