COSCO SHIPPING SPECIALIZED CARRIERS CO., LTD. Expands Fleet with 3 New Vessels, Set to Reach Nearly 80 Specialized Pulp Ships

Exciting news from COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers! The recent delivery of three vessels marks a significant milestone in the expansion of their pulp carrier fleet, which is expected to reach nearly 80 ships by the end of 2027, making them one of the largest pulp shipping companies in the world.

 

On August 21, the COSCO Shipping Jixiang and COSCO Shipping Ruyi, each with a 62,000 DWT capacity, were officially named at the Huang Hai Shipbuilding yard in Shandong. These state-of-the-art vessels are designed to transport pulp efficiently and sustainably, featuring advanced humidity control systems to ensure the highest quality during transit. Equipped with SCR systems, they meet the stringent NOx TIER III emission standards and are certified as smart and eco-friendly ships. With enhanced cargo handling capabilities, these vessels further improve efficiency.

 

Adding to this, on August 22, the GREEN MUNGUBA, a 77,000 DWT vessel, was delivered in Dalian. This is currently the world’s largest specialized pulp carrier. With a length of 225 meters, this vessel is not only designed for optimal pulp transportation but also to handle a variety of cargo, including high-speed trains, wind power equipment, and large machinery. The GREEN MUNGUBA is equipped with an innovative temperature monitoring and warning system, ensuring the safe transport of new energy vehicles.

 

Currently, COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers operates and manages over 50 specialized pulp carriers, covering multiple tonnage segments including 38,000 DWT, 62,000 DWT, 65,000 DWT, 68,000 DWT, and 77,000 DWT.
