PetroChina's first 174,000 m3 LNG ship starts construction

On October 31, the first ship construction ceremony of COSCO SHIPPING and PetroChina International was successfully held in Hudong Shipyard.

On June 30th, the "Cloud Contract Signing" ceremony was held for COSCO SHIPPING and PetroChina International, and the chartering and construction contract of 3 LNG ships of 174,000 m3 was successfully signed.

This project is the first LNG transport project with pure Chinese operation, management and construction background jointly developed by COSCO SHIPPING, PetroChina International and China State Shipbuilding Corporation. It is a milestone for the development of China's LNG transport industry.

The project plans to build 3 174,000 m3 LNG ships in Hudong Zhonghua with a total investment of about 600 million US dollars. In the future, it will provide transportation guarantee for LNG purchase and sale agreement of PetroChina International and its subsidiaries.

The three LNG carriers under construction adopt the fourth-generation "Changxing Series" large LNG ship design independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua. The ship has a total length of 295 meters, a width of 45 meters, a depth of 26.25 meters, and a speed of 19.5 knots. It adopts the latest generation of dual-fuel low-speed propulsion power system in the world.

The contract price of each LNG ship is about $185 million, and the total price of the three LNG ships is about $554 million. The delivery time is scheduled for October 31, 2022, January 31, 2023 and April 30, 2023 respectively.
