GSI started construction of world's largest passenger ro-ro ship

On June 2, a 2,370-passenger / 3,850-meter lane luxury passenger ro-ro ship No. 1, built by Guangzhou Shipyard International (CSSC) for Moby, a subsidiary of Italy's Onorato Shipping Group, started construction.

Designed by Danish company OSK-Ship Tech, the Ship will be the largest and most environmentally friendly luxury passenger ro-ro ship ever built.

The ship is 237 meters long, 33 meters wide and has a service speed of about 23.5 knots. It has a total of 534 cabins and can accommodate 2,370 passengers. The length of the hold lane is 3,850 meters. The ship will be registered as Italian classification society RINA.

The ship features a range of green system designs, the latest generation of hybrid scrubbers and a reserve of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to be converted into an LNG powered ship.

The ship is equipped with a new vehicle loading system. The central door can directly enter the main garage and two side doors can reach the upper deck ramp, which can effectively improve the loading efficiency.

At the same time, the ship is equipped with a very low-power engine system, which can achieve a maximum speed of 25 knots at very low fuel consumption, which can greatly improve the economy.

Moby is the passenger ship operator of Italy's Onorato Armatori. Founded in the late 19th century, Onorato mainly operates routes covering the whole of Italy and surrounding islands. It is one of the largest and most powerful shipping companies in Italy.
