Largest RoRo auto terminal in Yangtze River under construction

On December 20, the Yangtze River’s largest RoRo auto terminal Haitong Taicang Terminal officially started construction. Haitong Taicang Terminal is located in the floating bridge operation area of Taicang Container Terminal. The project has a land area of nearly 1 million square meters, a shoreline of 708 meters, 4 pre-designed dock berths, a designed production capacity of 1.3 million vehicles per year, and a construction investment of more than 2 billion yuan.

At present, China's total automobile export has surpassed Germany and ranks second in the world, while the export of new energy vehicles ranks first in the world.

Since November 2019, Haitong Taicang Terminal has completed the throughput of more than 460,000 vehicles, including more than 300,000 vehicles in 2022, with a year-on-year growth of 142.6%.

Taicang Port is located at an important junction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the coastal economic belt. Since August this year, it provided 25 ships to 13 domestic automobile brands and exported more than 20,000 vehicles. At present, ro-ro export routes from Taicang Port are mainly to Europe, South America and Southeast Asia, and the main export countries include France, Italy, Britain, Belgium, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and so on.
