Hong Kong's LNG terminal receives first cargo

MOL FSRU Terminal (Hong Kong) has received the first LNG cargo for Hong Kong in a commissioning process for the LNG import project. The project will soon begin commercial operation and supply gas to power plants operated by CLP Power and HK Electric.

The FSRU will operate in the southern waters of Hong Kong (east of the Soko Archipelago) under a long-term charter to Hong Kong LNG Terminal, jointly established by CLP Power and HK Electric.

The FSRU will regasify LNG and supply natural gas via two subsea pipelines to CLP Power’s Black Point Power Station and HK Electric’s Lamma Power Station. MOL FSRU Terminal will provide FSRU and jetty operation as well as maintenance and port-related services.

It is widely accepted that in addition to supplying a portion of Hong Kong’s energy needs the FSRU will also be utilized for ship-to-ship LNG bunkering from 2025.
