CCS launched "Sustainable Shipping Innovation & Development Initiative"

On November 3, the China Classification Society (CCS), in collaboration with Sinopec Group, COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation, China Merchants Energy Shipping and ICBC Leasing held the launching ceremony of Sustainable Shipping Innovation & Development Initiative (SSIDI) in Beijing.

With the International Maritime Organization (IMO), European Union and other global and regional shipping emission reduction policy formulation and development process accelerating, it has become an industry consensus to promote the application of alternative fuels in shipping.

To this end, CCS has jointly launched the "Sustainable Shipping Innovation & Development Initiative" with stakeholders in the energy, shipping and finance industry chains. The SSIDI, as a collaborative research platform, will focus on and conduct research on all aspects of the application of alternative fuels in shipping.

At the meeting, Sinopec and CCS introduced the economics of green methanol and the new mechanism of emission reduction in international shipping.
