China's large-size maritime patrol vessel Haixun-06 starts law enforcement activity in Taiwan Strait

China's large-size maritime patrol vessel Haixun-06 launched its debut marine patrol and law enforcement activity in the Taiwan Strait on Sunday after being commissioned earlier in July.

During the seven-day mission, the law enforcement officers will conduct a touring patrol in the coastal areas of east China's Fujian Province, covering the area connecting Zhangzhou City and Pingtan County. They'll have a throughout inspection in territorial waters include the Haitan Strait, Meizhou Bay, Xiamen Bay and Dongshan Bay.


The law enforcement patrol will focus on the north-south route in the territorial waters, as well as construction sites, areas that see frequent illegal sand mining activities and with intensive aquaculture, port industrial zones and other maritime facilities. They'll also join hands with relevant departments to conduct emergency drills.


Haixun-06 was commissioned on July 11 in Pingtan. It's the first large vessel carrying out patrol missions in the Taiwan Strait. With a total length of 128.6 meters, a width of 16 meters, and a full load displacement of 6,600 tons, the vessel is capable to reach all seas in the world except the North and South Poles.


The patrol vessel is expected to effectively strengthen China's maritime supervision and service capabilities in Fujian's coastal areas, improve the dynamic control of water traffic and the emergency response of ship accidents, and play an important role in ensuring the smooth transportation of goods and the safety of important shipping channels.
