Day of the Seafarer 2022 - China Seafarers Career Development Seminar held in Dalian


On June 25, the 2022 China Seafarers Career Development Seminar was held in Dalian, which was co-hosted by Xinde Marine News and DIMSCO.

The seminar focused on the future development and career planning of seafarers, analyzed the current situation of the development of Chinese seafarers, how Chinese seafarers face challenges and other hot topics, and highly praised the contribution of Chinese seafarers to ensure the normal operation of the global supply chain during COVID-19.And called on the whole society to care about the occupation of seafarers, jointly safeguard the rights and interests of seafarers and promote the sustainable development of seafarers.

Green and smart shipping will become the reality of the future shipping industry, and industry stakeholders need to work together to ensure that seafarers have the capabilities required for future shipping development.

Mr. Wang Jixuan, chairman of the board of Beijing SINOCREW, gave suggestions on the future career development and career planning of Chinese seafarers in view of the current career situation of Chinese seafarers, the employment situation of Chinese labor market and the supply and demand situation of global seafarers market.

We should adhere to the purpose of teaching students according to their aptitude and needs, and explore a diversified and stratified new training model with maritime transportation as its characteristics and advantages. It is necessary to take the professional ability training of the whole life cycle of seafarers' career as the main line and form a batch of teaching resources that can meet the requirements of "online + offline" teaching.

As a representative of seafarers, Captain Yan Xiaojun shared his career, then and now, growth and experience and suggestions to Chinese seafarers.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, seafarers on international vessels have not only been at risk of contracting the virus, but have also faced difficulties in changing shifts, seeking medical treatment and supplying provisions worldwide. Chinese seafarers are the unsung heroes of the epidemic who are bravely working onboard to keep the global supply chain running.
