Shanghai government and IMO signed a memorandum of cooperation

Shanghai Municipal People's Government and International Maritime Organization signed a memorandum of cooperation.

According to the memorandum, Shanghai government and IMO will deepen technical cooperation on the basis of jointly supporting the construction of the Asian Maritime Technical Cooperation Center in the early stage.

At the same time, it will promote the implementation of IMO's strategy for reducing GHG emissions, and focus on and solve major issues in the shipping field such as maritime safety and security, protection of seafarers' rights and interests, and intelligent shipping.

This is the first time that IMO, as the most authoritative intergovernmental international organization in the shipping field, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with a local government.

This is a milestone for Shanghai International Shipping Center to integrate into the world and serve the world.

Currently, the container throughput of Shanghai Port ranks first in the world for 12 consecutive years.

In order to comply with the new development trend of the global green, low-carbon and intelligent shipping industry, Shanghai International Shipping Center will continue to respond to the call of IMO and actively promote the low-carbon, digital, prosperous and sustainable development of the global shipping industry.
