On October 26, 2021, China Crew's Remuneration index released by Shanghai Shipping Exchange closed at 1458.19 points, an increase of 119.95 points over the previous period.
The current senior seafarers' remuneration index closed at 1382.60 points, up 113.00 points over the previous period. The remuneration index of ordinary seafarers closed at 1927.77, up 163.20 points from the previous period.
This month, China Crew's Remuneration index ushered in a significant rise. Many crew companies have focused on renewing contracts in the last two months and raising wages sharply, so as to keep up with the market salary level and attract talents. Bulk carriers are badly undermanned.
In terms of positions, senior seafarers rose across the board, with most positions rising by more than $400, and the highest increase was electrical engineer of oil tankers, reaching $781. Ordinary seafarers generally rose, boatswain and motorman with the highest increase, reaching US $303.
