Yang Ming chartered a ship to Maersk

Yang Ming has agreed to one of its container ships to Maersk at a price of nearly US$63 million for a period of one year.

Yang Ming said that Maersk has conducted negotiations on the transaction, but did not release other information about the ship. Based on the estimated average daily chartering price of approximately US$172,600, the ship may be a Panamax container ship.

Yang Ming currently has 88 container ships, and market rumors indicate that it is still consulting the shipyard for new ship orders.

This year, Yang Ming began to take delivery of 10 2,800TEU ships, which is an order undertaken by CSBCCorp.,Taiwan.

Yang Ming also signed a long-term charter agreement with Costamare and Shoei Kisen in 2018, and ordered 14 11,000TEU new ships, of which 7 have been delivered, and the remaining ships will be delivered by 2022.

Yang Ming is expected to use newer and more fuel-efficient old ships to eliminate older ships with higher fuel consumption.
