DSIC wins orders for 2 world's first 7500m3 liquefied CO₂ carriers

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry, a subsidiary of CSSC, signed a contract with Norway's Northern Lights to build two 7,500m3 liquefied CO₂ carriers.
 
This project is the world's first 7,500m3 liquefied CO₂ carrier. It is currently known to be the largest liquefied CO₂ carrier that has the largest liquid cargo tank capacity and serves marine carbon transportation and storage.
 
The ship is about 130 meters long, 21.2 meters wide and 8 meters structural draft. Registered under Norwegian flag, the ship is classed into DNV and the first production ship is scheduled to be delivered to the owner in the first quarter of 2024.
 
The vessel is equipped with the world's first full-pressure C-type liquid cargo tank, and is powered by both LNG and marine light diesel fuel to meet the most advanced EEDI Phase III requirements.
 
The ship was built for use in the European Co2 capture and storage scheme to advance the ultimate goal of carbon neutrality across Europe.
