Evergreen orders 24 feeder container ships in Huangpu Wenchong


On September 8, Evergreen issued an announcement stating that Evergreen Marine (Asia) Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of the company, has decided to order a total of 24 feeder container ships of 3 types, with a price of $28 million to $51 million per ship, and a total transaction price of $958 million to $1,098 million.
 
According to the announcement, the 3 types of 24 container ships, including 2 1800TEU container ships, 11 2300TEU container ships and 11 3000TEU container ships, which are planned to be built at CSSC Huangpu Wenchong.
 
This is after March and June this year, Evergreen once again placed an order to build container ships. On March 25 this year, the company announced that its subsidiary Qingbiao Shipping decided to order 20 15,000TEU container ships at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, with a total price of 2.8 trillion won (approximately US$2.478 billion).
 
On June 18 this year, China Shipbuilding Trading and Hudong Zhonghua signed a contract for the construction of two 24000TEU ultra-large container ships, which are the container ships with the largest packing capacity and deadweight in the world at present.
 
At present, the fleet of Evergreen has reached 201 ships, exceeding 1.35 million TEU. Among them, there are 115 self-owned ships, about 670,000 TEU; 86 chartered ships, about 680,000 TEU.
 
Since the beginning of this year, Evergreen has already received one 24,000TEU container ship, and it is expected to receive three new 24,000TEU ships this year. In general, Evergreen is expected to receive 33 new ships this year, adding a total capacity of more than 260,000 TEU. By 2022, the company will still have 42 new ships to be delivered, with a total capacity of more than 550,000 TEU. With the addition of these new ships, Evergreen's competitiveness will be further enhanced.
 
According to Evergreen's previous financial report, in August this year, Evergreen's operating revenue reached NT$50.021 billion, an increase of 9.02% from July and an increase of 164.78% year-on-year. In the first eight months of this year, the company's revenue reached NT$285.82 billion, a year-on-year increase of 131.72%.
