Yangzijiang won a large order for 10+5 LNG-powered container ships

On July 30, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding signed a new ship order agreement with Seaspan Corp, the world's largest independent container ship owner, including 10 + 5 70,000TEU new Panamax LNG powered container ships.
 
Through early research and development, Yangzijiang has won the trust of the shipowner and agreed to use type B tank as LNG fuel tank. The design of FGSS and tank body shall be completed by Yangzijiang itself. This batch of new ships is planned to be delivered successively from October 2023.
 
The value of these new ships is US $1.05 billion, and the shipbuilding funds will be composed of cash and some loans held by Seaspan.
 
After delivery, 10 of these ships will be chartered to Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd for 12 years, which is expected to generate $1.8 billion in revenue for Seaspan.
 
In the first half of this year, Yangzijiang undertook orders for 100 new ships, with a total value of US $5.59 billion. On July 30, Jiangsu Yangzi Changbo Shipbuilding resumed production, which will release more shipbuilding capacity for Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.
