China's shipyards' new orders increased by 182.1% year on year

Since the beginning of this year, benefiting from the global economic recovery and the improvement in international trade demand, the global shipping market has gradually recovered, and new ship orders represented by container ships have been quickly increased. So, what is the current production status of the shipyard? Let's take a look at the shipbuilding base on Changxing Island in Shanghai.

2 docks, 2 harbors, and 16 terminals are lined up with large ships under construction. Although the progress is different, they are in order. Shipyard technicians told reporters that in order to improve efficiency, they have strengthened the arrangement of resource allocation and production order, allowing the invisible assembly line to achieve rhythmic production.

According to statistics, global orders for new container ships have increased significantly since the third quarter of last year, and this year has climbed to a 13-year high. According to statistics from China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry, new ship orders undertaken by Chinese shipyards increased 182.1% by year-on-year in the first four months, accounting for 53.3% of the international market share, and many ships have been scheduled for delivery until 2024.
