On May 13, Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding delivered "Belle Lune", the first of the "TESS42" series 42,000 DWT bulk carriers.
"Belle Lune", owned by Japanese shipowner Nissen Kaiun, is 180 meters long, 32.2 meters wide and 15.4 meters deep. It has a dead weight of 42,200 DWT, a cargo hold capacity of 52,400 cbm, a draft of 10.75 meters and a gross tonnage of 26,700 DWT.
Tsuneishi Group said that the biggest feature of the TESS42 series is that it guarantees versatility and loading performance at the same time. While maintaining the same length of 180 meters as the TESS38 series ship, it has increased the deadweight by about 2,000 DWT under the same draught and increased by about 4,000 DWT when fully loaded, meeting the needs of the market for large-scale trends.
In addition to the three main bulk cargoes of iron ore, grain and coal, the cargo hold of the TESS42 ship type can also be loaded with cargo such as hot-rolled coils and sulfur. This series of ships can also load timber, enabling simultaneous transportation of bulk cargo.
The TESS Series also features high fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. By optimizing the ship type, the series ships can achieve a fuel consumption reduction of more than 4% per ton mile compared to the TESS38, have a significantly improved cruising range, meet Tier III regulations and have been fitted with scrubbers to comply with sulfur emissions regulations.
