On May 24, China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai) launched the seventh high-end ro-ro passenger ship W0270 for the owner of STENA. It took 105 days from staging to launching, setting a record of the shortest period for a ship of its type.
As the longest ro-ro passenger ship of its type, W0270 has a total length of 239.7 meters, a width of 27.8 meters, a design draft of 6.2 meters, a design speed of 22 knots, a lane length of 3587 meters, and a passenger capacity of 1200 people. It is equipped with three bow thrusters to make it more convenient to leave and dock.
Influenced by the epidemic situation abroad, the Suez Canal was blocked, the stern shaft arrived late. In the face of various adverse factors, the project team adjusted the plan timely, and completed the power transmission of the switchboard and the hoisting and promotion of the cabin unit in the middle and late May respectively, laying a foundation for the follow-up main motor vehicle and other projects to be promoted on schedule.
