At present, the continuous prosperity of the international shipping market has stimulated the enthusiasm of shipowners to invest in new ships, and the major shipowners have ordered and built new ships in batches.
From January to April 2021, a total of 142 shipowners around the world have ordered new ships, with a total scale of 516 ships and 42.909 million dwt, an increase of 131% year-on-year.
From the perspective of shipowners' ordering concentration, the top 10 shipowners ordered 132 ships with 19.556 million DWT, accounting for 45.6% of the global order total and almost half of the global shipbuilding market.
The total order volume of the top 20 new ship owners is 189 ships with 27.511 million DWT, accounting for 64.1% of the global order total.
To be specific, European and American shipowners such as Canada's Seaspan, France's CMA CGM, Switzerland's MSC and Greece's Angelicoussis Group have released bulk orders.
In terms of Asian shipowners, Taiwan's Evergreen Marine and Wan Hai Lines, Japan's Shoei Kisen and CDB Leasing are among the top 10 shipowners in the world.
