Genco purchased two ships under construction from DACKS

New York-listed shipowner Genco Shipping & Trading Limited has announced the acquisition of two 61,000 dwt ultramax bulk carriers from Dalian COSCO Khi Ship Engineering, with delivery expected in January 2022.

These are the fifth and sixth of its high-specification, energy-efficient ultramax bulk carriers purchased since December 2020, doubling the number of its core ultramax bulk carriers, the company said in a statement.

The 61,000 DWT bulk carrier of DACKS has excellent performance and is currently one of the most popular types of bulk carriers on the market. It is also one of the main products of DACKS.

Greek shipowner Enesel once ordered two 61,000 dwt ultramax bulk carriers in DACKS in August last year. The hull numbers are DE107 and DE108, and they are scheduled to be delivered in May 2022.

Genco also announced the chartering of two other ships through a time charter contract to ensure cash flow. The two ships are the capesize bulk carrier "Baltic Bear" built in 2010, with a chartering term of 10 to 14 months. And the ultramax bulk carrier "Genco Vigilant" built in 2015, with the chartering term of 11 to 13 months, all starting from October 2021.
