Turkey – Pollution Fines and Guidelines Revised for 2021

Members should note that the levels of pollution fines to be imposed on vessels for causing pollution in Turkish waters through discharge of petroleum products, dirty ballast, garbage and sewage into the sea have been updated for 2021. The new rates are in some cases 50% higher than previous levels, but are reportedly mostly adjustments for inflation. The rates are applicable as of 1 January 2021.
