China Financial Shipowner SPDB Financial Leasing began to enter the bulk carrier market. Following the 4 61,000-dwt bulk carriers in October this year, SPDB has placed an order for 6 82,000-dwt bulk carriers. The two batches of 10 new bulk carrier orders have all gone to COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry. This is also SPDB's first bulk carrier order.
On December 15, SPDB and NACKS held a signing ceremony for the construction of six 82,000-dwt bulk carriers in Shanghai.
Prior to this, SPDB had held a signing ceremony for the construction of four 61,000-dwt bulk carriers in Nantong with the charterer and the shipyard of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry on October 23. The four ships are scheduled to be delivered from 2021 to 2022.
SPDB Leasing stated that the 10 bulk carriers ordered this time are directly chartered, and it is SPDB’s first operational charter of bulk carriers. The builder is a shipyard of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, and the ships have global operational capabilities.
Among the financial leasing companies in China, SPDB Leasing entered the shipping industry relatively late, but a number of ship chartering projects have attracted the attention of the industry since last year.
