StormGeo s-Suite ready for Sea Cargo Charter

Shipping industry giants commit to transparent reporting of shipping emissions in line with United Nations decarbonization targets. The Sea Cargo Charter is born.

What is Sea Cargo Charter and why should you pay attention to it?
The Sea Cargo Charter establishes a common baseline to quantitatively assess and disclose whether shipping activities are aligned with adopted climate goals.

The Sea Cargo Charter is consistent with the policies and ambitions adopted by member states of the IMO. This includes its ambition for GHG emissions from international shipping to peak as soon as possible and to reduce shipping’s total annual GHG emissions by at least 50% of 2008 levels by 2050, with a strong emphasis on zero emissions. Who will be affected by it?
In practice, basically every company wishing to trade with any of the Sea Cargo Charter signatories will need to provide climate alignment information.

According to Sea Cargo Charter, "Sea Cargo Charter is applicable to charterers with interest in the cargo on board; those who simply charter out the vessels they charter in; as well as the disponent owners and all charterers in a charterparty chain. They apply globally, to all chartering activities where a vessel or vessels fall under the purview of the IMO."

What do you need to report to the Sea Cargo Charter?
The Sea Cargo Charter group has developed a data template which needs to be submitted latest seven days after the completion of the cargo discharge.

The information required includes distance and consumption on the ballast and laden legs on the particulars of the cargo carried.

How can s-Suite help you?
s-Suite, via s-Insight, facilitates the collection of the required data by the Sea Cargo Charter, and can produce and submit the periodic reports as required.

Reporting commences January 1, 2021, and s-Suite will ensure that you are ready to comply.
