Huarun Dadong Dockyard has started to carry out the LNG refit project of Hapag-Lloyd’s 15000TEU ultra large container ship "Sajir", which is the world's first dual-fuel conversion project of ultra large container ship.
On August 31, container ship "Sajir" successfully docked at terminal 7 of Shanghai Huarun Dadong Dockyard, preparing to install LNG dual fuel tank.
Hapag-Lloyd took over "Sajir" after its 2017 merger with UASC, which was originally designed as a LNG ready vessel.
"Sajir" is the world's first ultra large container ship to be equipped with LNG dual-fuel tanks. The total section of LNG dual-fuel tanks is 13 meters long, 46 meters wide and 21.6 meters high.
The project was launched in October last year and Huarun Dadong overcame many technical difficulties. The company adopts the world's first LNG membrane fuel tank integrated one-time hoisting solution, which significantly saves modification time and manufacturing costs.
