Japanese shipowner Masumoto Shipping has signed a shipbuilding contract with Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) for two 82,000 dwt Kamsarmax bulk carriers.
The shipbuilding contract, which includes 1+1 new ship, is scheduled for delivery in 2021, according to Intermodal, a shipping broker.
The contract amount was not disclosed. VesselsValue puts the price of an 82,000 dwt bulk carrier at about $26 million.
Masumoto Shipping, based in the city of Akashi, has 10 ships in its fleet, including three bulk carriers, four oil tankers and three vehicle carriers. The company also has a bulk carrier and three oil tankers under construction.
