China Shipping bulletins on March 2,2020


1.Director Jiao Guangjun was elected as the chairman of Tianjin Port, and director Liu Qingshun was elected as the vice chairman of Tianjin Port.

2.GTT has received an order from the Chinese shipyard Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co. Ltd. for the tank design of two new LNG Carriers (LNGC).

3.China’s index of export container transport declined in the past week, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange.

4.On February 26, the discharge ceremony for the first shipment of bauxite from CHINALCO’s Boffa Project in Guinea was held in Shijiu Port District of Rizhao Port in Shandong Province.

5.Oil prices fell nearly 3% on February 27, plunging for a fifth day to their lowest since January 2019 as a rise in new coronavirus cases outside China fueled fears of a pandemic that could slow the global economy and dent demand for crude. 

6.Saudi Arabia will reduce term crude supplies to China sharply next month as the coronavirus outbreak slashes demand in the word's top oil importer.

7.Port state control authorities will begin to enforce the IMO’s Sulphur 2020 from 1st March, making it an offense for ships to carry fuel that contains a sulphur content higher than 0.5 percent unless the ship has an Exhaust Gas Cleaning System.

8.On February 25, 2020, Greek local time, a ceremony marking the start of construction work on the cruise terminal expansion project at the Port of Piraeus was held at the port’s cruise passenger terminal Themistocles.
