On February 19,Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, signed a construction contract with COSCO Shipping (Shanghai) for two 13800 ton stainless steel chemical tankers, with the contract amount of about 400 million yuan.
The single ship of the project has a total length of about 129 meters, a width of 22 meters, a depth of 11.8 meters, a design draft of 8.5 meters, a capacity of about 13800 tons, a speed of 12.8 knots and a endurance of 7500 nautical miles. This ship is classified by CCS, and registered as the flag of Hong Kong, China.
The 13,800 tons of stainless steel chemical tanker is the largest vessel that Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Heavy Industry has undertaken so far. It is also the key vessel products that Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Heavy Industry has undertaken after returning to the main industry of stainless steel chemical vessel construction five years later.
Due to the impact of the new coronavirus epidemic, the two sides could not go to Shanghai to hold the signing ceremony, so they innovated their working mode and signed the contract in the form of "no meeting" network transmission. This was an emergency measure under the pressure of the outbreak, but it also opened up a whole new way of working online.
The completion of this contract signing marked that two new ships officially entered the design and construction period, which provides a solid foundation for the transformation and development of Cosco Shipping (Shanghai) to the main shipping industry of the group. It also provides a strong fulcrum for the strategic goal of building a liquefied storage and transportation supply chain and providing clients with end-to-end logistics services.
