China Shipping bulletins on February 19,2020


1.China on Tuesday said it will start accepting applications for tariff exemptions on 696 US-origin goods, including crude oil, LNG and refined products, from March 2.

2.Around 500 passengers on the virus-hit cruise ship quarantined off Yokohama near Tokyo were set to disembark on Wednesday, although those sharing a room with people testing positive would have to stay on board longer.

3.The Cambodian Ministry of Health said in a statement late on Monday that 1,010 out of the 2,257 people onboard the Westerdam cruise ship had been allowed to disembark from the ship in the last three days.

4.A second group of 36 officers of the Hong Kong Government participating in the operation to repatriate Hong Kong residents on board the Diamond Princess cruise liner to Hong Kong flew to Tokyo on February 18.

5.A component of Singapore’s annual budget, unveiled on 18 February, was a five-year extension of dual tax incentives for insurers operating in the city state.

6.Belgium’s Exmar, the Nicolas Saverys-led shipowner, said that the outbreak of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in China has caused a delay in receiving Tango FLNG funds.

7.Some overseas buyers of Chinese metal products have stopped accepting shipments amid the coronavirus outbreak, while other clients – including from India – are seeking damages due to a failure to deliver on time.

8.Iron ore futures in China rose more than 2% on Tuesday after miner Rio Tinto lowered its shipment forecast for the steelmaking raw material from Australia’s Pilbara region citing damage to its infrastructure due to the tropical cyclone Damien.
