China Shipping bulletins on January 17,2020


1.Ningbo Zhoushan port,China's busiest port, saw cargo throughput exceed 1.1 billion tonnes in 2019, official statistics showed.

2.Chinese cruise shipbuilding company CMHI Haimen yard carried out the keel laying ceremony for the 'Ocean Explorer'. 

3.Japan's Mitsui plans to invest in LNG business with China Resources Gas and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in Jiangyin Lingang Development Zone.

4.On 15th January 2020, China Merchants Port,CPD Fund and CLAC Fund held a signing ceremony to celebrate successful transfer of equity share of the Terminal De Containeres de Paranaguá ("TCP") in Brazil. 

5.Shanxi-based coal trader Nanye Group is one step closer to taking over domestic dry bulk operator CSC Phoenix, having become the debtee of the company’s controlling shareholder Tianjin Shunhang Shipping.

6.The Port of Hong Kong handled 18.364m teu in 2019, down 6.3% compared to 2018. The figure equates to a loss of 1.232m teu over the 12 month period, and will be a severe blow to the ambitions of the recently formed Hong Kong Seaport Alliance.

7.The UK P&I Club, a leading provider of P&I insurance and other services to the international shipping community, has appointed Tom Starr as a Senior Claims Executive, who will be based in the Thomas Miller London offices. 

8.Low sulphur fuel oil prices dropped for six consecutive trading days and currently stand at around $670 per tonne in Singapore. The decline in LSFO price is partly driven by the easing supply tightness and partly due to cooling demand.
