2019 International Ship Management and Technology Forum successfully held in Shanghai

2019 International Ship Management and Technology Forum(ISMTF) was successfully held on Dec 4, 2019 in Shanghai, China,which was co- organized by China Ship owners Association (CSA) and Xinde Marine News, supported by Dalian Maritime University (DMU),Liberian Registry(LISCR) and BIMCO.
Green Shipping
 
Mr. Thomas Klenum, the Technical Director of LISCR, gave us the Policy Introduction of IMO 2020 Sulphur Cap & GHG Emission Reduction, including IMO Guidance and Support to ensure Consistent and Fair Implementation of the IMO 2020 Sulphur Cap, Initial IMO GHG Emission Reduction Strategy, Industry Reactions and possible solutions to IMO’s Initial GHG Reduction Strategy as well as Ship Newbuild projects with innovative design solutions.
Mr. Simon Neo, the President of SDE International Pte Ltd, shared Asian major ports policy on IMO 2020 and how is Asia transforming itself in light of the new sulphur cap. He also introduced what are Port State doing to ensure compliance fuel are burned or in used. 
Mr. Lianjun Li, Reed Smith Richards Butler Partner showed how should shipowner and charterer deal with disputes for comply with IMO 2020 regulations (Risks of quality of bunker and Scrubber retrofit). During his speech, he discussed some cases on bunker disputes and negotiation of bunker clause to allocate risk as well as allocation of risk relating to scrubbers.
Then, Mr. Wei Zhuang, BIMCO, Regional Manager of Asia held the panel discussion. Thomas Klenum, Simon Neo, Lianjun Li, Sanjeev Verma, Landbridge Ship Management (HK) Limited MD, Meijing Cai, Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited External Director and Qingzhu Cao, CSSC-WD Ship Equipment Group President joined in this panel to discuss how to compliance with the Sulphur Cap2020 and GHG emission reductions.

Mr. Ken Loke, KVH Industries Pte Ltd Vice President talked about Internet development at Sea.

Mr. Zhuo Shan, DNVGL Digital Solution Regional Sales Manager for Ship Ecosystem Asia-Pacific discussed Fleet Management in Digital Era. He pointed out the Challenges of fleet management and how can a ship manager overcome these challenges.

Mr. Fan Zhang, Cyber Security Business Manager for Lloyd’s Register for the Asia Pacific Region illustratd the Digitalization development, Cyber risk and shipowners' concerns. He expressed the potential cost of inaction is high with some practical cases. His speech also include their LR service offerings for shipowners to avoid the cyber risks.
Safety Shipping
 
Mr. Zhiyong Gu from Shanghai-Pudong MSA showed us the Statistics and analysis of Safety Inspection.   
Mr. Duozhu Li, Shanghai Dingheng Shipping Group President shared the Risk control of ship operation and management. He talked about the strategic selection of shipping related industries in the new era.
Mr. Alex Ye, Liberian Registration(China) Managing Director, moderate the last panel“development of ship management industry under new convention and new technology”Mr. Liyu Zhou , Shanghai Leading Energy Shipping Company Vice GM,Mr. Mingfa Liu, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (China) MD, Mr. Yong Zhao, Seacon Ships Management Co., Ltd GM,Mr. Ning Su, Frontline Capital President,Mr. Jiapei Feng, Hong Kong Shipowner Association Deputy Director together shared the valuable experience of being shipowners and ship managements. They expressed that shipowners and ship managements will cooperate more closely and shipowners will have more time to considerate other capital issues.
Finally the forum ended with the cocktail reception.
