Singapore has retained its crown as the biggest international shipping center in the world, according to the Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index published in Shanghai on July 11.
Hong Kong came in second, followed by London and Shanghai.
The index, which has been released for six consecutive years since 2014, evaluates the development level of international shipping center cities based on port conditions, shipping services and general environment.
China's coastal cities have performed prominently in the global shipping center evaluation system. In addition to Shanghai, the top 30 cities in terms of comprehensive strength are Ningbo-Zhoushan (13), Guangzhou (16), Qingdao (17), Dalian (20), Shenzhen (22), Tianjin (24), Kaohsiung (25) and Xiamen (30).
