Specialist insurer, Markel International has made senior appointments for Asia.
Christian Stobbs has been appointed as managing director of Markel International in Asia, and Colin Fordham has been appointed as director for Asia. Previously Asia strategy director, Christian will take on the role of managing director from Matt Cannock.
Mr Stobbs first joined Markel in 2015 and is experienced in developing local market insurance and operational strategy across various regions including Asia. In his new role, he will lead Markel’s Asia team – managing the daily operations of offices in various locations in Asia including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Mumbai. He will also be responsible for developing Markel’s footprint in the region, whilst maintaining consistency with Markel’s core values and commitment to success.
Mr Fordham joined Markel in 2017 as a senior marine liability underwriter and has been responsible for developing Markel’s marine liability book of business in Asia. Colin has been in the insurance industry for over 21 years, on top of 25 years’ experience in shipping and has extensive marine insurance experience in underwriting, claims and broking. As director for Asia, he will work closely with Christian to develop regional growth strategies and will lead the company’s business plans for Asia.
