Haizhuang Wind Power (HZ Wind) under China Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd announced that the construction of its first-ever self-made 300 MW offshore wind power project has commenced in Dalian sea area, the company said on June 26.
It is learned that this project, with a total investment of 5.1 billion yuan ($742 million), was one of the key projects approved by the National Energy Administration and was also the first offshore wind power project constructed under the mode of EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction).
According to the company, once constructed, this offshore wind farm could transmit more than 700 GWh of electricity to power grid each year, which could help save 235,000 tonnes of standard coal annually. Besides, emission of 480,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, 870 tonnes of sulfur dioxide is about to be effectively reduced per annum.
Being the main part of CSIC's wind power sector, HZ Wind is currently a top player in China wind market. HZ Wind has total assets of $1.1 billion. HZ Wind also owns an operating wind farm in Iowa in US, a company in Michigan and a R&D center in Denmark.
In China, HZ Wind is investing in 2 GW wind projects and 300 MW are close to be commissioned now, the company said.
