China Shipping bulletins on May 10,2019


1.Huawei and Guangzhou Port Group will collaborate to establish a '5G port innovation center' in Guangzhou city. The center will be built under the framework of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and its announcement was made during the International Ports Conference in Guangzhou.
 
2.China Cosco Shipping, one of the world’s largest container carriers, has forecast a halt to the trend of ever-growing boxships because many ports are feeling the pressure from handling mega-ships operationally.
 
3.China's Shanghai Maritime Court says vessel collision cases are on the rise.It has taken on more than 200 disputes in the last four years, which numbers increasing each year.
 
4.The long-awaited commencement of the Hong Kong ASEAN will take partial effect from 11 June as Hong Kong, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand begin to honour their commitments under the FTA. The dates of entry into force for the remaining seven ASEAN member states will be announced as they commit to ratification.
 
5.China's iron ore futures finished higher on Thursday.The most active contract for September 2019 delivery finished the day session up 0.08 percent to 644.5 yuan per ton. 
 
6.On May 5, Chairman and Party Secretary of COSCO SHIPPING Capt. Xu Lirong led a delegation to meet with Secretary of Shandong Provincial Party Committee Mr. Liu Jiayi in Jinan. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on COSCO SHIPPING’s active participation in transforming the industrial outlooks of Shandong Province.
 
7.Brazil’s Port of Açu and the Chinese Port of Guangzhou have signed a Co-operation Agreement aiming to share best practices, port operation information and management, as well as strengthening investment and business development co-operation.
 
8.China’s Guangzhou port signed co-operation agreement with Port of Rotterdam Authority to establish sister-port relationship.According to the agreement, the two parties will be sharing expertise and best practices in the field of port management.
